A fast & fun ride that has a bit of everything. Starting out from Palm Desert Civic Park we start with some of the other groups warming up down Portola and across the highway before heading East on Varner. The group splits off on 38th ave, turns left on Washington and picks up the pace until heading up Thousand Palms Climb (4.5 miles, avg 2.6% grade). Often, the group will split into 2 during the climb with the fast folks waiting at the end for other quicker folks before taking off east bound on Dillon. People who lag a little will "generally" regroup at the top of the climb forming a second group. Please note that this dynamic truly depends on those riding so make sure you know your directions if this is your first ride with this group!

The ride goes up and then a nice long/fast descent into Indio and turning on 44th ave, stopping briefly at the AM/PM and then crossing over the freeway to Calhoun riding North to Airport and then across towards La Quinta. Sometimes the ride will include LQ cove and sometimes not.

This ride is not for the faint of heart. Generally pretty quick and although the avg speed ends up around 18mph there are plenty of sustained flats at over 25mph. Group riding skills are a must if you want to hang, no aerobars allowed. GPX file Above

Not for the faint of heart, and definitely not for beginners! The Dealership ride leaves from the PD Civic Park casually enough, warming up for the first few miles before heading East on Varner where a tail wind usually helps as the group ramps up often hitting speeds in excess of 30mph. The ride will make it‘s way heading into Indio and will generally stop for water/restrooms at the AM/PM to regroup. After a quick break, we head South towards the mountains before heading West from Trilogy on 60th with a quick ride through the Cove. Lots of speed, chasing, and fun to be had on this spirited ride with some experienced riders. This is not a no-drop ride so make sure you know how to get back if falling off the back. No aerobars please

Leaving 5 minutes after the other rides from Palm Desert Civic Park, this ride is perfect for those who want a moderately fast pace and are comfortable riding in a group with sections up to 22mph, our average speed ends up around 17mph by end of ride. Routes vary based on ride leader, generally, this ride ends up being between 45-55 miles but there are lots of options to both add or subtract mileage. Packed into “the Fastest Hour” is 45 minutes of lung-busting, quad pumping flats with one relatively short 4% climb that comes two-thirds the way through the ride at just at the time your legs are trying to catch their breath. Leaving from PD Civic Park at 6:45 the ride starts out similarly to Saturday‘s groups, heading East on Magnesia Falls, North on Portola and East on Frank Sinatra where additional riders will join the fray before heading down Cook. After crossing the 10 freeway on Cook, the ride makes a sharp turn east onto Varner where it off takes with speeds quickly ramping up to around 30 mph. At Washington the ride turns south back over the 10, then rips west on Country Club, northwest on Tamarisk, and west on Frank Sinatra until Gerald Ford where it snakes west and north along Gerald Ford and Dinah Shore until it meets Portola again, this time at its most northern and lowest point. By now your lungs and legs will have been at max for more than 20 mins, so it’s the perfect time for a 5 minute max power climb south on Portola. Do what you have to to hold on because once you make it to Frank Sinatra, your home free for the most part. The remaining couple of miles south on Portola are slightly down hill then dead flat, so the 30 mph is just fine, especially if you stay tucked in and stuck onto the wheel in front of you. At Magnesia Falls it’s finally over with a turn west and a return to where you started, the Civic Center. Locals are likely to tack more miles onto the 25 or so just ridden. Catch you breath, and feel free to join in.
